The owners and operators of TSquirrel take online privacy seriously. This page outlines what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

Server logs

Like most websites, TSquirrel logs web and infrastructure access events (for example IP, user-agent, and request metadata) for operations, abuse prevention, debugging, and aggregate traffic reporting.

Cookies

TSquirrel may use a small number of cookies to support session/auth behavior and basic product functionality. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but some features may not work as expected.

Analytics

We use analytics to improve content and UX. Internal/admin traffic is separated from public reader metrics. We do not sell personal data.

Requests for deeper research

If you request a deeper look at a story, we save the story ID, request time, and a hash of your browser session identifier to avoid counting repeat clicks. The request records do not contain your IP address or account details. Contributors see aggregate interest counts, not browser identifiers. Requests are removed when a brief is approved or the story is deleted. Clearing cookies or starting a new session may allow another request. Rate limiting uses IP addresses temporarily in server memory to discourage abuse.
