Amazon deforestation falls to record low in Brazil election run-up

💡 Why it matters

Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon has dropped to its lowest level since records began in 1988, a success for President Lula. This milestone comes just days before a presidential run-off election that could determine the future of the rainforest.
