Durham's The Light Reopens with Global Art Stars
🐿️ The Squirrel's Take
A £17m art gamble in Durham proves culture can outlast a decade of uproar, now luring big names north.
💡 Why it matters
This reopening could shift UK art tourism away from London, drawing visitors to the northeast and boosting local economy.
The Light, a £17m redevelopment of a Durham museum closed for a decade, has reopened with works by Tracey Emin, Steve McQueen, and Olafur Eliasson. The gallery aims to bring international contemporary art to northeast England.
