German Chancellor Merz Visits Kyiv Amid Bridge Strike

💡 Why it matters

This attack during a high-profile visit signals Russia's willingness to escalate attacks on critical infrastructure even as Western leaders demonstrate support, potentially deterring future visits.

Russian drone struck Kyiv's Northern Bridge as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived on an unannounced visit. Two people were injured in the attack, which occurred on the fourth consecutive day of Russian bridge strikes.
