Global Water Scarcity Emerges Amid Drought and Power Outages

💡 Why it matters

These dual emergencies expose how fragile water supply systems are to climate shocks and infrastructure failures, risking public health and economic activity in affected regions.

The UK's Environment Agency declared severe drought across southern England due to months of low rainfall, while Sri Lanka's Water Board urged public conservation during an islandwide power outage. Both events highlight acute water stress from distinct but concurrent crises.
