NATO Jets Down Drone Over Lithuania After Airspace Violation
💡 Why it matters
The shootdown underscores escalating aerial incursions along NATO's eastern flank, forcing allies to rapidly deploy interceptors and raising risks of direct confrontation with Russia.
Lithuania reported a drone incursion that triggered an interceptor response, and Poland separately launched jets after recovering another suspected Russian drone. The twin alerts point to higher air-defense tempo on NATO’s eastern edge and risk of cross-border miscalculation.
